YAMA Mountain Gear was born from conversations on a 2006 thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail about how to make gear better. Since then, Gen Shimizu has created a company built around a workshop and life on trail to design and make gear that works. YAMA operates on the banks of the Blackfoot River outside of Missoula, Montana. Yama aims to be ultralight on the environment by being Climate Neutral Certified, and a member of 1% for the Planet.
