Don’t tackle peaks and valleys alone, always take a friend, and in this case take two! Our trekking poles are made from ultralight, ultra-strong carbon fiber, with sturdy clasp locking mechanisms. They have a foam or cork handle for a comfortable sweat free grip.
I purchased this trekking pole at the same time as the Zpacks Altaplex tent. I assumed, incorrectly, that the pole would be long enough for the tent i.e. extend up to 147 cm. It does not. You need to either purchase a separate Zpacks dedicated tent pole or a Zpacks/generic pole jack, or make an extension yourself, or just own a set of longer sticks. I used a short length of 32mm PVC pipe from Bunnings and braced it into the small "snow basket" that comes with the Zpacks pole. I was also able to swap the little snow basket over to my shorter Durston Iceline poles and use the extension with them. As a trekking pole I thought the Zpacks carbon pole was fine but found their blue clamps a bit flimsy (?not sure) and the straps on the heavy side for an ultralight pole. But that's just a first impression, time will tell. I will say that I appreciate Ultralight Gear stocking some Zpacks and Durston lines. Thanks a bunch :)
