Meet Laura: Ultralight Gear Ambassador
What is your favourite trail run or hike?
I have LOTS of favourites but probably the AAWT in Australia for it’s incredible views and challenge of its remote Aussie landscape. Internationally I’d say the Te Araroa trail in New Zealand for its epic mountains, forests and welcoming hiking culture.

Any exciting adventures planned for 2026?
Always lots of plans in the works here and abroad but I will be heading to Europe shortly to do some travelling and new single and multi-day hikes.
What piece of gear could not live without?
Altra Lone Peak trail runners and also my Neve Gear Waratah Quilt (I’ve definitely been converted from taking a sleeping bag).

How did you get into trail running and/or hiking?
I got into hiking a few years ago whilst road tripping around Australia as an extension of my travels. I love exploring nature and wild places so it just made sense to keep getting out there. My first multiday trail was the Overland track in Tasmania.

What’s your best advice for new trail runners and/or hikers?
The best way to learn is simply by getting out there and giving it a go! Start in a place you feel comfortable, go with friends and talk to others on trail. Researching before you go is a great way to learn but getting out there is what will help you really understand what works best for you so you can take on even bigger and better adventures!
That and finding a good pair of shoes haha, again I personally found Altras to be a game changer.
