Solo tents: Moondance 1 and 1FN

Both share the same sleeping floor, including the triangular expansion for internal gear space. The standard version has more mesh; the FN version uses a full-height nylon inner.

Hypermid: choose your shelter configuration

The Hypermid is a modular, non-freestanding pyramid. The fly, inner and support pole are separate purchases. The fly can be used as a floorless shelter; add a half inner for one person and a large covered gear area, or a full inner for two-person bug protection and a sewn-in floor.

Hypermid system figures above are calculated from the listed fly, inner and optional pole components. Pegs are extra; these are not packed weights for a complete kit. The fly's published minimum setup is 595 g plus four 11 g pegs, before adding a support pole or inner. Half- and full-inner weights use the listed component weights; packed sizes are per component.

What does FN mean?

FN means Full Nylon. Moondance 1FN and 2FN use full-height 20D nylon inners for greater protection from drafts and condensation drips, while the standard Moondance models use more mesh for ventilation. The floor dimensions stay the same, and the FN versions add weight.

Moondance FN or Dragonfly?

The FN models are listed for sub-alpine four-season use. The Dragonfly is Mont's alpine four-season model, with a heavier 30D fly and 70D floor, compared with the Moondance range's 20D fly and 40D floor. The Moondance EX offers the widest sleeping floor here for two people wanting more room or a three-person setup.

Hypermid pole height and weight

Hypermid requires a 150 cm support: a suitable hiking pole extended to 150 cm, two hiking poles strapped together, or the dedicated Mont Hypermid DAC Alloy Pole. That optional pole weighs 180 g and folds to 34 cm. It is not included with the fly or inners.

Understanding the specifications

Total and minimum weights: the freestanding tables retain the packed or total weight listed for each model. Their minimum setups generally include the inner, fly, poles and two pegs; Moondance EX also lists guylines. Use the packed or total figure to plan carrying weight.

Floor versus footprint: the Hypermid fly covers 270 × 180 cm of ground, but has no sewn-in floor. Its inner sleeping areas are smaller. The Moondance and Dragonfly dimensions refer to the inner sleeping floor.

Waterhead: the fly and floor ratings describe the fabrics' resistance to water pressure. Peak inner height measures the tallest point, while pole structure and wall shape also affect usable headroom.

About this comparison

Specifications follow the Mont models listed by Ultralight Gear on 5 November 2026. Floorplans use those current metric dimensions, rather than older diagrams with different measurements. Floor areas follow the published product specifications. Check each linked listing for current availability and included items.
