We recently upgraded to the Moondance 2p 2FN after years of putting it off and thorough research, I made the decision to do it during a very attractive boxing day sale Ultralight Gear had.
First impressions, a beautifully packaged tent that is camp ready (albeit if you want the longevity of the bottom of the tent than a ground sheet is always recommended). Our first time setting up the tent was during a drizzling afternoon on Cockatoo Island where harbour winds picked up. It was just myself and my 3 year old. Without referring to the instructions, the tent is rather fundamental and logical to pitch. There are enough pegs to secure the tent albeit 2 more would be nice however we used a few sticks and large boulders. Guidelines are not included, although in hindsight we survived without them.
Inside the tent is well designed and spacious accommodation for two adults. We had two Nemo Long and Wide mattresses which covers the entire floor. The FN (full nylon) inner tent is as described, full nylon and does limit the air circulation however opening up the tent allows the cross ventilation. Someday we will look into the full inner mesh option for those warm summer night camping trips.
Overall, we are satisfied with this new 2person tent for short hiking and camping adventures and look forward further field testing!
