Have you been looking for a cheap, tough and super light groundsheet for your precious tent? We've got you covered! Designed by hikers for hikers to keep the weight off your back and protection for your gear without breaking the bank.
Constructed from industrial grade cross-linked polyolefin, means it is extremely tough for its weight with amazing puncture resistance.
Simply open it out and cut it to size of the base of your tent. This will bring the finished  weight of the groundsheet down considerably.
Note: Made from Polyolefin shrink film which can shrink slightly when exposed to extreme heat.
At the time of review I have used for 4 nights on trail.
PROS
- Very light
- kept the bottom of my tent clean and dry
- held up well at all campsites I used it on. But I always check for sticks before laying down.
CONS
- being clear you will have to be mindful of which side is the wet/dirt side and which isn’t . It will get very wet underneath from condensation (but that’s the point and stops my tent from that).
- hard to fold back up to small enough to fit in bag it came in again but just replaced with a bit bigger ziplock bag so can pack up wet on trail when needed.
Overall
- very happy and will recommend.
Considering to buying a spare as back up in my kit at home as I’m not sure how long it will last long term but so far no signs of wear and I think I have a lot of use out of it to go!
I like it very much. Multi-usefulness! It actually is stronger than I expected, no punctures or tears, feels quite durable. So cheap too!
I used it three times in two ways:
1) Under my Durston x-mid 1 tent in rainforest - leech infested sloping raining conditions at Scenic Rim, QLD. It just fits completely under the fly, extending nearly to the edge perfectly without folding or cutting. This means the rain didn’t land on it and flow under my tent bathtub, and also that there was plenty of useable clean plastic floor outside in both vestibules. Extremely HAPPY with the fit here!! ZERO water on tent bathtub bottom packing up in the morning.
2) dry rocky thinly grassed ground under tent at a 2nd location. I did my best to sweep the site pulling out the worst of the rocks but I could only do so much. No punctures in the polycro, and happy feelings of protecting my valuable tent. Again I had a nice experience of clean useable floor space in both vestibules
3) I used it for several hours as a rain poncho. I REALLY liked this experience and am considering never taking a rain shell again but using this ground cover.
Hear me out…
a) I’m saving weight by not bringing a rain shell.
b) I wrapped it around my shoulders like a pool towel and it covered me and my pack, didn’t drag on the ground, was easy to hold together on the inside at my chest with one hand. Easy to flap it right open for ventilation. I felt I could have easily wrapped some paracord/guyrope around like a belt if it got windy or needed two hands free. I pulled it up over my head too and it was all still working nicely.
c) the rain was stop-start for hours so when it stopped raining I’d just keep walking as I’d scrunch/fold it into a small rectangle and tuck it inside my pack chest straps. So I had no need to stop to take off my pack to remove a rain shell. When it started raining again I’d just pull it out and cover all of me again. SUPER FAST and quick and easy to pull on and off as needed, covering the whole pack, no stopping, not getting hot or wet. I LOVED this mode of walking and seriously think I’ll adopt it permanently. This was the revelation/surprise learning of the trip for me this time
Looks ok, i wont know until i use it in a couple of months time.
Much lighter than tent groundsheets.
Hopefully will last good period of time
I have not used it as yet but it will be suitable for my needs. Light weight, durable and no fuss ground sheet.
