Time had come to upgrade my 12yo thermarest sleeping mat. I did a log of research on sleeping mats before this purchase and for me thermarest came out on top. It’s an expensive mat but given my last thermarest lasted for 12 years with zero issues I can hope the price is justified, plus ultralight had the best price! I chose the max over the mummy shape because I wanted a bit more sleeping area. Did my first few nights and very happy with my choice. The extra sleeping space was great and the mat felt really warm. Time will tell if it’s as durable as my last mat.

There is a lot to get right with a sleeping mat. I have had a super noisy mat and then a mat that was ultra light but not durable. THERMAREST NEOAIR xlite NXT ticks so many boxes for me. I just spent 5 nights in the grampians and the R4.5 rating and 3 cm thickness gave me a great sleep and greater confidence given the durable outer. It packed small and an impressive weight to comfort / insulation ratio. A quality product and a step up from some of its competitors. highly recommended.
