Holey Hiker Bidets: Cleaner Trails, Happier Bums

Holey Hiker Bidets: Cleaner Trails, Happier Bums

What started as one man’s search for a cleaner way to handle business on the trail has grown into one of the lightest, most-loved pieces of hygiene gear in the backcountry. Meet Holey Hiker, the brainchild of teacher turned bidet boss, Paul Bogush, a man on a mission to make dirtbag hygiene a little less dirty.

From the Classroom to the Trailhead

Paul didn’t set out to start a bidet company. For years, he taught middle school in Connecticut, and like most backpackers, he relied on toilet paper and wipes in the wild. But after one too many chafed hikes and a deep dive into Leave No Trace ethics, he gave portable bidets a try and the results were, well, life-changing. Clean, fresh, no waste, no irritation. It just made sense.

Armed with curiosity (and a classroom full of 3D printers), Paul began experimenting. He printed, tested, adjusted, and printed again, chasing the perfect combination of light weight, durability, and pressure. What began as a quirky side project soon became a genuine obsession and the Holey Hiker was born.

From Basement Builds to Trail-Ready Blasts

Each Holey Hiker bidet is designed, assembled, and packaged by Paul himself. Early models were made on his home printer, but as word spread and demand grew, he moved to injection moulding at a small, family-owned factory in Connecticut. The result? A 4-gram powerhouse that’s tough, simple, and built to last.

The signature four-hole spray is engineered for maximum efficiency, a quick rinse that uses minimal water but leaves you cleaner than any handful of toilet paper ever could. And because Paul’s as eco-minded as he is detail-obsessed, each bidet is packaged minimally.

The Sustainable Splash

Using a Holey Hiker isn’t just about staying clean; it’s about treading lighter. Swapping out toilet paper reduces waste, saves space in your pack, and spares your skin from the rough stuff. For many hikers, it’s also become a kind of micro-shower — a quick way to rinse off salt and sweat after long days on the trail.

Why We Love Them at Ultralight Gear

Holey Hiker Bidets will transform your life, or at least your butt’s life. At just 4 grams, it fits almost any water bottle and goes anywhere you do. From diaper bags to the Pacific Crest Trail, from truck glove boxes to fishing boats, Holey Hiker Bidets made to go everywhere.
