What is One Bottle Hydration?

One Bottle Hydration is a one-man show, all the way from Connecticut in the US. What started as a pandemic passion project quickly turned into a clever solution to a common trail frustration. Founder Matt used his own 3D printer to prototype a lightweight, functional way to add a drinking tube to a regular bottle. His ability to design, test, and refine on the fly helped him create a system that’s rapidly gaining popularity among ultralight hikers.

What’s not to love?

When it comes to staying hydrated on trail, most hikers choose between two systems: bottles or bladders. Bottles are easy to refill and clean. Bladders offer convenient, hands-free drinking. But both come with their trade-offs—bladders can be awkward to fit in your pack, prone to leaking, and a hassle to dry out.

The One Bottle Hydration System gives you the best of both worlds, allowing you to turn a regular water bottle into a handsfree setup by adding a drinking tube. You get the low-maintenance, lightweight convenience of a bottle with the on the go sipping of a bladder.

How does it work?

The beauty of One Bottle Hydration is its compatibility—it works with almost any standard water bottle on the market. And setup is as simple as it gets: just replace your bottle’s cap with the one provided, insert the drinking tube, and secure the hose comfortably to your pack. It really is that easy!

You just need to choose the right kit for your bottle. We currently stock a wide-mouth kit, which works perfectly with Nalgene bottles, and a 28mm kit, which fits most standard supermarket water bottles. As well as the DIY kit which is even more versatile!

We also carry a few key accessories to take your hydration system to the next level—like an insulated tube cover to protect the tube in hot or cold weather, and a bite valve cover to keep your mouthpiece clean from dust and dirt on the trail.
